For over 15 years, international performer, educator and wellness leader, Zuleikha, has been on an evolutionary journey in the creation and development of palliative modes of relaxation therapy, as an adaptive holistic approach to palliative care for cancer patients and their families, now called TAKE A MINUTE® for Palliative Care.

Zuleikha trains counselors, social workers, doctors and nurses. Today, this work with Zuleikha’s NGO, The Storydancer Project in partnership with CanSupport-India, has reached thousands.

TAKE A MINUTE® for Palliative Care, which started as a non-invasive movement therapy within the modality of kindness for palliative care patients, has evolved into a medically accepted trainable program in holistic palliative care.

Dr. Ambika Rajvanshi discusses the role of The Storydancer Project and Zuleikha in partnership with CanSupport India and the Relaxation Therapeutic Health Exercise Program (RTHEP) developed by Zuleikha for palliative care patients and their families. This name of this program has now been changed to TAKE A MINUTE® for Palliative Care and is the subject of a research study by Princeton University at CanSupport with the Palliative Home Care Teams.

The “Free Paper Oral Presentation” prize was awarded to Zuleikha based upon the presentation of her research project Relaxation Therapeutic Health Exercise Program (RTHEP©). in an ongoing partnership with the Delhi organization CanSupport and her non-profit organization The Storydancer Project (TSP). RTHEP©, created and developed by Zuleikha/TSP, is an initiative that arose from the needs of cancer patients and their families looked after by the home-based palliative care teams of CanSupport. RTHEP© is now called TAKE A MINUTE® For Palliative Care, and is being implemented today by a group of CanSupport Home Care Team counselors trained by Zuleikha/TSP. The Home Care Teams, each comprised of a doctor, nurse and counselor, offer palliative care to patients with advanced cancer and their family caregivers in all sectors of Delhi and the National Capital Region. Since the services are aimed at the most needy and underserved, they are provided free of charge.

Special thanks to Dr. Ambika Rajvanshi, Chief Executive Officer of CanSupport, for her help and direction with putting the presentation together, to CanSupport for their teamwork and support, and to the staff of TSP for their collaboration, commitment and ongoing creative work.
